David Jefferson

My name is David Jefferson and I am the founder of Parent Support Arizona.   I am a father of five children, each who has their own unique strengths and special needs.  Several years ago, I founded parent Support Arizona, because as a Parent of special needs children, I understand and appreciate all the difficulties involved in caring for a child with exceptionality.  I have been blessed to find support for my children as we have navigated the various state systems, however, I recognize that not all families are able to access the supports they need.  I am very proud of the impact Parent Support Arizona is making in our state and I am committed to continuing to grow our programs to meet the needs of our community.

In addition to my work with Parent Support Arizona, I am also very active in supporting youth on a State and national level.  I am currently serving in a leadership capacity in the following organizations:

The Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, Board of Directors

  - Treasurer

The Arizona Disability Coalition - Advancing the rights, choices and value of persons with a disability - Treasurer

The Nagi Foundation, Serving the People and Animals of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community,

  - Board President

Reach Family Services Inc - Alcanza Servicios de Familia, a Family Run Behavioral Health Agency

  - Board President

Sarah Hall-Jefferson

My name is Sarah Hall-Jefferson and I am the Co-Founder / Business Operations Manager of Parent Support Arizona. After struggling with the school system to provide our children the supports and services they need to be successful, David and I realized two things: First, there is an incredible need for services and supports for the special needs families in Arizona. Second, that David possesses a unique and innate skill set to provide those types of supports. After helping numerous families in our circle of friends, we recognized that we could make an even bigger impact in our community.  In 2012 we embarked on this journey and have devoted our lives to servicing families like ours who face similar struggles and challenges. Our journey over the last five years has been the most fulfilling and rewarding experience of our lives. I am very proud of the work that we do, and I am honored that we have been able to grow our advocacy team by adding additional highly skilled and experienced advocates.  Together, we continue to work toward our ultimate mission of creating wide-scale systemic change in Arizona's public school system.  Though we love the work that we do, it is our hope that one day there will no longer be a need for families to seek out and retain advocates. Until then, we will work tirelessly to ensure your child(ren) have everything they need to reach their full potential at home, in school and in the community!

Heather Bell

My name is Heather Bell and I am an advocate at Parent Support Arizona.  I began my advocacy journey as a parent of four children with learning disabilities.  My personal experience with my children, coupled with my experience as a teaching assistant to children with intellectual disabilities, ignited a passion in me. I’ve devoted my life to being a voice for the voiceless and a person who is willing to take a stand for vulnerable students. Parents often need support in understanding the special education process, and I am excited to provide that support and help each family achieve a brighter future.

I am Kerry Fitzmaurice, advocate, mother of four, and educator. After working in special-education for over 25 years, I joined Parent Support Arizona to help parents navigate the special education system.   I look forward to assisting families understand the special education process, advocate for their child, and  to build and maintain positive educational relationships.   I want to be the key that unlocks opportunities so your child can access their education and become a person with many abilities in the end of their educational journey.
